MinnesotaCountry.com owners Brandon and Karleen Wallin have always been big believers and supporters of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. For many years, they’ve donated through the K102 radiothon. Since starting MinnesotaCountry.com, without an official partnership, etc they’ve used this website, and all MinnesotaCountry.com social media platforms to help spread the word about the radiothon as well. They do this not for attention, to look good in the public eye, etc, but from the goodness of their hearts. With that said, if you’d take a minute to read below, it would be much appreciated!
While on a road trip to Tennessee a few years back, Brandon and Karleen took it upon themselves to spend a portion of their vacation visiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. They stopped, got an amazing tour, and more all while on vacation. Many of friends and family had asked them, “why would you stop at such a sad place while on your vacation?” Not knowing what to expect Brandon and Karleen just answered with, “we’d like to see the place we’ve given to for years, and heard so much via K102 (KEEY)”.
Well, after their visit they realized first hand what was going on there, and it only re assured them that their money and time was going to a great place.
Brandon stated that, “aside from all of that sadness that comes to mind when you think of St. Jude, the kids there and their families as well, it’s truly not at all what you’d expect.” He stated, “The building is full of bright colors, great artwork from the children spending time there, smiles in the hallways, and so much more. It’s a hospital based on hope, and with hope comes smiles, and not just at St. Jude but around the world! That’s right, around the world! They don’t keep cures a secret, their research helps children across the world whether a patient at St. Jude or not.”
As stated above, Brandon and Karleen continue to give in any way they’re able to St. Jude, including sharing stories like this to better inform others of how great of a place it truly is.
We could go on and on about their trip to St. Jude, but the truth is the clock is always ticking…
