It all began in 2011 when a new country music festival took over Farmington, MN. The Dakota Country Fairgrounds hosted Ramble Jam, a one-day event that featured artists like Frankie Ballard, Bomshel, Rocket Club, Hitchville, Lost Highway, Sara Lynn Wallin, and 2 Mile Final. With a lineup like that for its first year, everyone knew this new festival meant business!
Sara Lynn Wallin and 2 Mile Final kept the side stage rockin’ all day between each set on the main stage! The crowd showed much love for them, as well as the other great local bands that played that day. Later, the crowd also went wild for national acts Bomshel and Frankie Ballard. This was a great one-day party, but many people wanted more! In 2012, Ramble Jam has taken things to that next level. Organizers have made this a two-day event, located just south of the Twin Cities, providing a weekend full of great music, camping, and more. With ten main stage acts, and four acts keeping the side stage hopping throughout the two-day event, this is sure to be a festival you don’t want to miss!
Beginning Friday, Sept. 14 (gates for admission open at 2 p.m.), local artists Sara Lynn Wallin with 2 Mile Final return to open the two-day event on the main stage at 3:30 p.m. With four vocalists, they are sure to please the crowd with a great variety of today’s hottest country music as well as a few originals! Following them, Texas- based Whiskey Myers will take the stage. With its new single, “Anna Marie” recently reaching radio and even CMT (Country Music Television), this is an up-and-coming band you won’t want to miss!
Leading into the night, concert goers will find Dustin Lynch taking the main stage. Bringing his ever popular hit, “Cowboys and Angels,” along with plenty of other solid country songs from his recently-released self-titled debut album. Lynch is one on the rise, the album recently hit number one on the charts and Lynch is continuing to gain popularity on a daily basis.
Just when you thought the night couldn’t get any better, Randy Houser will take the stage! With a variety of hit singles like “Boots On,” “Whistlin’ Dixie,” and current hit, “How Country Feels,” among many other favorites, he is sure to provide a great end to the night! In between all of these great acts, The Devon Worley Band will be playing on the side stage. With its latest release “Careful What You Ask For,” The Devon Worley Band is quickly becoming a big name in Minnesota country music, drawing fans at home and beyond.
Things get started Saturday, Sept. 15 at 12:30 p.m. (gates open at noon) with local favorites Greene and Hurst. Coming off 10 days of performing at the Minnesota State Fair, this band has country music flowing through its veins and will kick things off right. At 1:15 p.m. on the side stage is Two Hicks and a Chick, which is Ali Gray, Jeff Becker and Mark Knoll, who have been entertaining Minnesota music fans for years. Two Hicks and a Chick will do a second set on the side stage at 3 p.m.
Lost Highway, who just released their debut album have had their hit single “More Than a Song” receive airplay on K102 and many other stations throughout the midwest. They will hit the Ramble Jam main stage at 2 p.m. Rocket Club follows on the main stage with a set at 3:45 p.m. Rocket Club has taken country music in a whole new direction: due north, where the weather’s chilly but the harmonies are warm, the guitar riffs hot, and the live performances blazing.
Sara Lynn Wallin with 2 Mile Final returns for day two of Ramble Jam, hitting the side stage at 3:45 p.m. to keep the party rolling. East Texas native Sunny Sweeney has been touring extensively in 2012 and will follow with her hits like “From a Table Away,” and “Drink Myself Single” with a set beginning at 5:50 p.m.
Moving into the evening hours, another Minnesota favorite, Tim Sigler, will rock the side stage with two sets at 7 and 9 p.m. Performing around 200 shows a year, this singer is having no trouble making his mark on the local music scene.
Even though Josh Thompson is from neighboring Wisconsin, we won’t hold that against him as he brings his hits like “Way Out Here,” “Beer on the Table,” and “Won’t Be Lonely Long” to Ramble Jam for a guaranteed good time! Despite recently parting ways with his record label, plenty of good things are in store for Thompson as he continues to tour, write, and share his down-home tried-and-true tunes with the world.
It’s not hard to love Saturday night’s headliner Lee Brice, whose “Hard to Love” continues to climb the country music charts and is currently holding down the number-16 spot. The South Carolina native’s other hits include “A Woman Like You” and “Love Like Crazy,” which was Billboard’s top country song of 2010. Look for an energetic in-your-face show to close down the night in style.
