The CMT On Tour: The Summer Never Ends concert at The Myth in Maplewood, MN featuring Florida Georgia Line, Love and Theft, and Jake Owen, just took place Dec. 6, 2012. Prior to the show, a couple of us from MinnesotaCountry.com were invited into the venue early for a very special occasion. Love and Theft hosted a very nice, yet casual, party to celebrate their single, “Angel Eyes,” landing at number one on the charts this year. This is the duo’s first number-one single. Their debut single “Runaway,” released in 2009, made it to the top 10.
Landing a number one on the charts doesn’t come easy, with the many great songs to hit country radio.
In attendance and in the photo above, were a few randomly selected fans, members of RCA Records Nashville, staff from KEEY – K102, and in the back right corner of the picture above, you will see two of us from MinnesotaCountry.com.
Each member of the duo was presented a plaque, and KEEY-K102’s Gregg Swedberg was also presented a plaque. The representative from the record label spoke very highly about the duo, and explained how tough it really is to land a number one single. Swedberg also took a moment to speak, and had many great things to say about the duo, as well. Knowing them for so long,Swedberg seemed as proud as the duo themselves! After all that, each member of Love and Theft (Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson) each took a moment to speak of how thankful they were for such great fans, country radio, and more!
A proper toast was then made with the whole group.
Following all of this, everyone got to hang out with the duo as well as get their picture taken with them.
We had a great time, and were honored to be a part of this special occasion!
The show was excellent, and we recommend seeing them next time they’re at a venue near you!
