Mercury Nashville artist Kacey Musgraves leads the 47th Annual CMA Awards with Taylor Swift, both receiving six nominations. Kacey, a first-time CMA Awards nominee, garnered nominations for Album of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Single of the Year and two Song of the Year nominations; making her the first new female artist in history to top CMA nominations.
“My first single, “Merry Go ‘Round” went to radio exactly a year ago today. That perspective is really mind-blowing,” said Musgraves. “I’m honestly so humbled right now thinking about this past year and how greatly country music has embraced that song and me. The love I’m feeling from these nominations is something that I could have never expected and I couldn’t be more thankful and overwhelmed in this moment.
Same Trailer Different Park is the only debut album nominated for Album of the Year and Kacey received two nominations for Song of the Year as the co-writer of both “Merry Go ‘Round” and “Mama’s Broken Heart.”
Kacey’s debut album Same Trailer Different Park reached the #1 spot on Billboard’s Country Album chart and her Top 10 hit debut single “Merry Go ‘Round” is RIAA certified GOLD. Same Trailer Different Park has been praised by Rolling Stone, NPR and the Los Angeles Times as one of the best albums of 2013.
