Gretchen Wilson, best known for her #1 single “Redneck Woman,” was set to play the 2014 Lakes Jam in Brainerd, Minn., this June. However, the Lakes Jam website announced some surprising news.
The website states:
“We are disappointed to announce that per doctor’s orders, Gretchen Wilson has been placed on full vocal rest for the foreseeable future. Any dates already booked have been canceled. Gretchen wishes to thank her fans for the last 10 years of making dreams come true and looks forward to seeing them again in the future.”
We haven’t received any official news from Wilson’s representatives, but this statement almost sounds like an end to her career. In 2014 Wilson released the single “Bits and Pieces” and recorded “Wild” on the upcoming album, “Nashville Outlaws: A Tribute To Motley Crue.” We can only hope that this is a short-term leave and that her voice heals soon.
Wilson’s spot at Lakes Jam will now be filled by Clay Walker.
