Benton Blount. If the name sounds unfamiliar to you now, it won’t for long. He’s currently one of the finalists on the 10th season of America’s Got Talent, and continues to blow away the judges and excite his fans every time he takes the stage!
Benton’s deep, powerful voice is chill inducing, especially when he lets it get a little raspy. There’s no doubt that Benton is a great talent, but he’s also a great person. Benton Blount isn’t new to the music industry, he was signed to indie label, Golden Music Nashville and was in the middle of a radio tour in anticipation of the add date for his debut single when the label shut down. Benton could have given up on his music career after that, but he didn’t let it stop him. He continues to play his music in small clubs and bars and has gained himself quite a loyal group of fans.
Although he may not look like your typical country musician, you won’t see him stepping out on stage in a cowboy hat and boots, there’s no denying he’s got a country soul. Just YouTube his performance of “Jolene” from a few weeks ago on America’s Got Talent and you’ll understand. In fact, it’s his atypical style that sets him apart and makes him unique. Even Benton admits on his Facebook page, “I like surprising people,” he says. “My life, and my career, have been full of surprises too. But it’s always a good surprise. I like showing people that this is what I should be doing, and this is where I belong!”
When he’s not working on his music, Benton is focused on his 19 month old son, Jaxon and wife, Ashley.
