Republic Nashville’s A Thousand Horses made their debut performance on the hallowed Grand Ole Opry stage this weekend with their own full 9-piece band. The Nashville-based country rockers performed their debut single, “Smoke,” currently Top 20 and climbing the country charts, as well as the soulful and crowd-pleasing “Sunday Morning.”
A Thousand Horses is on a hot streak with “Smoke,” which set a record for the highest debut by a new act when it opened at No. 28 on the Country Aircheck radio chart. “Smoke” is the lead single off their debut album, Southernality, due in stores June 9.
“Now when people ask me my favorite place I’ve ever played, I can finally say it’s the Grand Ole Opry stage!” says lead singer Michael Hobby.
Along with Hobby, the creative core of A Thousand Horses is made up of guitarists Bill Satcher and Zach Brown and bassist Graham DeLoach. Fans can catch more of the band’s high-energy stage performance as they join Darius Rucker’s Southern Style tour this spring, beginning on May 14, 2015 in Holmdel, N. J.
About A Thousand Horses
A Thousand Horses is a fresh fusion of classic sounds – a hybrid of Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers, Black Crowes and Exile on Main Street-era Rolling Stones, wrapped up in a modern-country context. With Michael Hobby leading vocals, Bill Satcher and Zach Brown on guitar and Graham Deloach on bass, the band initially gained momentum playing clubs across the South. Rolling Stone Country hailed the foursome as the Best Up-and-Comer at 2014’s Austin City Limits and USA Today named them one of 2015’s Artists to Watch. Their highly-anticipated single “Smoke” is already gaining traction at Country radio with a Top 30 debut. A Thousand Horses is expected to release Southernality on Republic Nashville later this year.
