Some great country music can be found at the Minnesota State Fair Thursday, Aug. 29, as Maggie Rose and Whisperin’ Bill Anderson remain in St. Paul for performances at the Leinie Lodge Bandshell.
Music is a powerful means of expression and rarely has a young performer displayed better command than country singer Maggie Rose. Possessing a strong, warm voice that is alternately playful or poignant, she has a gift for penning insightful songs and delivering them with emotional punch. Working with legendary producer James Stroud, she has crafted a debut album filled with potent songs, each one anchored by her riveting vocals. Rose performs Thu., Aug. 29 at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. You can also catch Maggie Rose this September at Ramble Jam!
Bill Anderson has released more than 40 albums and recorded seven #1 hits including “Mama,” “Sang a Song,” “Still,” “I Get the Fever,” and “World of Make Believe.” Known as Whisperin’ Bill for his soft vocal style and spoken narration, the country icon is one of the best-known country singers and songwriters in history. He performs Aug. 29 at 3:30 p.m., and again at 4:45 p.m.
Greene and Hurst will hit the stage at the Gardens Building on the corner of Dan Patch and Underwood 6-11 p.m. nightly Aug. 29-Sept. 2. Greene and Hurst is a new kind of country, a fun kind of country. The band mixes in today’s hits, some classics, a few classic rock songs and even originals. Wanting to do nothing but have a good time with the crowd, G&H makes sure to leave everything they have on stage to make sure the fans leave happy and wanting more. As always, there will be great food and ice cold beer being served at Chicago Dogs, Ragin’ Cajun, and Tejas Express.
You can find Minnesota artist Larissa at the Crossroads Chapel on August 29 at 9 p.m. Larissa, just recently released her latest single “Get On Board” right here on MinnesotaCountry.com. She has an amazing voice, and has big things ahead! If you can’t make it out to see her at the fair, you can catch her singing the national anthem at the Minnesota Twins game on Sunday, September 8, 2013.
Just added on (8-26) – Maiden Dixie will be playing on the BUZ’N 102.9 stage on the corner of Dan Patch, and Cooper at 6 p.m! Fresh off of the release of their latest CD, this is definitely a band you’ll want to go and see! They are sure to please the crowd, and put on a very entertaining show! Make sure to call your favorite radio station and request their latest single, “The Waiting’s Done” as well!
